The Center for Food Safety
Meredith Niles, Cool Foods Campaign Co-Coordinator, writes: I work at an environmental non-profit organization in Washington D.C. Recently, I visited Ethiopia to meet with programs run by an organization called The Institute for Sustainable Development. ISD works with Ethiopian school groups to establish school based environmental clubs to teach children about indigenous cultural knowledge, sustainable agriculture, and compost making. Each school grows various types of vegetables in their gardens and also plants trees throughout their community. One of the schools I visited, in Holetta Ethiopia, asked if I would be able to find a computer for them to use for their school environmental club.
We are seeking a late model laptop (for ease of transport or shipping) PC capable of running current software. If you can help, please email Ms. Niles or call 202-547-9359
The Center for Food Safety is located at 660 Pennsylvania Ave., SE Suite 302, Washington D.C. 20003
Notre Dame Education Center
Robin Blackwood, a teacher at the center writes: Notre Dame Education is non-profit adult education service located in northeast Washington, DC committed to the success of our clients desiring basic learning. Success is measured by our student's achievement of personal goals related to learning and employability. Our programs include Adult Basic Education (ABE), General Educational Development (GED), External Diploma Program (EDP) and computer training classes. For many, our computer classes are their first introduction to computers. Our computer lab is functional but the machines are aging. We would greatly appreciate any computer donations to bolster our program. Thank you.
