Schools seeking donations in Maryland

Baltimore

Perry Hall Middle School - Laura Schap writes: I am a public school teacher in Baltimore County and I am looking to set up a laptop cart for my inclusion student's next year. I will be mostly working with children who need accommodations and extra help in general. My school is very large; about 1,500 students so getting computer time can be difficult. The student's that I will be working with are generally low in reading and math and I am trying access as many opportunities as I can to help them become better readers. I think the first step to doing that is to give them the tools. Computers are a great way for them to not only feel better about themselves, but it will also give them access to programs and websites that can help them and myself achieve our goals.

Seeking Pentium four (or better) PCs. If you can help, please email Ms. Schap or phone 410-746-3379

Mitchellville

The Washington New Church School - We are a small church school located about 15 miles outside of the Nations capital. Our school opened its doors in 1970 with grades 1 - 3. We now have grades K - 10 with approximately 50 students. Our school has an excellent track record of high academic as well as social success. Most of our graduates go on to higher education and we boast graduates that are writers, engineers and even a rocket scientist. Several years ago, some volunteers put together a network in our building with used computers purchased from a used computer supply house. We have 16 computers in our library media center, one - two computers in every classroom and of course some in our offices, all of which are networked. We teach touch typing, word processing and computer literacy to the middle school and all of our middle to high school students use the internet (compliments of Comcast) to do research. Sadly, these computers and even our sever is rapidly becoming too old and too slow and we cannot afford to replace it.

We are seeking Pentium four (or better) PCs, server components, and software licenses. If you can help, please email Ms. Cowley or phone 301-464-5602.
